First and foremost, you’re a builder. You think in systems, you ship production code, and you care deeply about what actually makes it into the hands of users. You’re not waiting for a spec to land in your lap — you’re looking at the product, the design system, and the way the team works, and finding the leverage points that make everything better.
You’ll work alongside a design engineer already on the team and together you’ll own the bridge between design intent and shipped experience across the core product. This role is about multiplying — your work raises the quality bar for the entire design and engineering organisation.
This role reports into Design, not Engineering. That’s intentional. The person responsible for UI quality, interaction polish, and design system integrity should be embedded in the team that sets the craft bar — not downstream from it. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape what design engineering becomes at Luxury Presence as the function grows.
- Strong command of React — you build components and design systems in code, not just prototype them
- Comfortable in Figma and able to make design-level decisions, especially at the system level
- Deep care for UI craft: motion, spacing, typography, interaction states, accessibility
- Experience building and maintaining design systems across Figma and code in parallel
- Ability to write production-quality frontend code — not just demos or prototypes
- Strong communication skills and comfort working at the intersection of design and engineering teams
- You find the leverage points that make systems and teams better — without being asked
- You care about the last 10%: the micro-interaction, the edge case, the loading state that most people skip
- You’re equally comfortable in a design review and a pull request review
- You believe fast teams ship better products, and you actively reduce friction wherever you find it
- You think like an owner — not waiting for a spec, but proactively identifying what needs to be done
